The first few days of summer in Finland will see a mixed bag of weather conditions, according to Yle meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander, before a warm air front moves in from the south later in the week.

The outlook for Monday and Tuesday suggests rain showers in central and eastern parts of the country, while the south will be mostly cloudy and overcast. Temperatures during the day on Monday will range from 18 degrees Celsius along the southern coastline to 10 degrees in Finnish Lapland.

However, Lohtander said he expects temperatures will rise in the middle of the week when a warm air front arrives into Finland from southern Europe — which has been basking in a heatwave for the past week.

Although the forecast for Finland is currently somewhat uncertain, temperatures throughout the country could rise to between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Lohtander added that the readings could even breach the 25 degree mark — Finland's official threshold for a "hot day" — on Thursday.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has also put out a wildfire warning for much of the south and southwest of the country, as soil dryness increases the risk of fires starting and spreading.
