Temperatures across much of Finland are expected to approach 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday, providing a warm and largely sunny backdrop to the end of the academic year.

In many areas, daytime temperatures will range from 18 to 21 degrees, with strong winds easing over the weekend.

Not all parts of the country will, however, share in the sunshine. Cloudier conditions are set to prevail in Lapland and along parts of the eastern border, stretching from Kymenlaakso to North Karelia.

Temperatures in these cloudier eastern regions and in southern Lapland are expected to settle between 13 and 17 degrees. Further north, the mercury will range from 5 to 13 degrees.

Conditions are set to remain mostly dry on Sunday, although cloud cover will increase across large parts of the country. Rain is expected in southern Lapland and the Koillismaa region, while scattered showers may develop in central and southern Finland.

Lapland will again be the coolest part of the country on Sunday, with temperatures ranging from 5 to 15 degrees, depending on cloud cover. As the weekend draws to a close, Western Finland is likely to be the warmest region, with highs of 18 to 22 degrees. Elsewhere, temperatures are expected to reach 15 to 18 degrees.
