Comment It seems to me that the inverse property makes more sense ; and it seems to already exist as depends on software (P1547) − or at least is used that way in the wild eg StarCraft: Insurrection (Q3496925)depends on software (P1547)StarCraft (Q165929)). Oppose Use depends on software (P1547) if the base game/software is required as a pre-requisite for the expansion software to function. Use based on (P144) and/or part of the series (P179) (item which is instance of (P31) video game series (Q7058673)) regardless of whether the base game/software is required. Question I also think that the inverse property makes more sense. I've an example of query here that can be used to retrieve information from an inverse property. Beside that, do you have use cases where you need to express that something is a Downloadable content for a given game that could not be expressed with more generic terms? In that case, could the "content" meet the notability criteria and/or be useful to describe, while not being an add-on or extension? In that case could depends on software (P1547) work for you? Comment I would argue that depends on software (P1547) captures a very different and weaker relationship between software packages that may not necessary be a logical expansion as expressed here. Take for example the popular Pandas (Q15967387) package which depends on numerous other software (see here https://packages.debian.org/buster/python-pandas for debian dependency list) such as NumPy (Q197520). Note that this means that pandas needs numpy to work properly but it is clearly a distinct entity and not an expansion of numpy. What is proposed here is a much closer association, more like a logical continuation of the same software package that adds more functions (levels, functionality, browser extensions) to existing software. I would therefore argue against using depends on software (P1547) to model this type of relation. Support but only for the inverse property. Thanks for pointing out the issues with (ab)using depends on software (P1547). An extension (like a supertuxkart map or an extra game mode) can have (extra) dependencies (on specific libraries like fribidi) indeed. With the inverse property we probably want to define it better to understand precisely what is an extension / DLC and what is not, and which type of software it applies to (all?) but that can be done later anyway (once the property is created).
