Facilities and Accessibility
No Step-Free Access
Unfortunately, due to ongoing building works, the museum does not have any step-free access routes.
The museum is located at basement level, down two sets of stairs (33 steps total). Once inside, the museum galleries are all on one level with no stairs. All gallery floors are carpeted.
Toilets
The museum has no toilet facilities on-site.
The nearest public toilets are in St James’s Park. They are about a 10 minute walk way.
To locate these toilets from the museum, exit onto Birdcage Walk and turn right. At the traffic lights, cross the road into the park and follow the foot path over the bridge. Keep going straight on and you will find public toilets on the left. Royal Parks make a charge for use of these toilets.
The nearest Changing Places Toilet is located at London Victoria Station, approximately 15 minutes away.
The museum is not able to offer baby change or private breast feeding facilities.
Seating
There are a number of chairs around the galleries, please feel free to use them.
Blind and Visually Impaired
We welcome guide and assistance animals in the museum. Registered animals should bring proof of identification.
For those with limited vision we have a number of Guards uniforms available to handle. Tunics and bearskins can be found at the entrance of the museum, and MTP uniforms can be found in the Music Gallery inside an open Guardsman's locker. Staff will be happy to direct you to these areas.
We also offer audio guides free of charge with your admission, in a hand held device. These can be used at touch points throughout the museum, to hear stories and insights from across 380 years of history.
