This
cyanotype on canvas, which was then exposed to sunlight, has the subtitle "12 billion years, 80 minutes," and highlights Ebtekar's obsession with time and space.
She recorded all her findings in detailed illustrations and engravings, until the invention of
cyanotype photography in 1842.
'Must Be Done' is a
cyanotype print of her mammogram results which she has embroidered in parts.
Jackie Henson-Dacey from Venice High School in Venice, Florida, has her students make some pretty cool products using the
cyanotype process.
"I enjoy experimenting with various films and developers and am currently exploring shooting on infrared film and the ancient method of
cyanotype," she says.
We looked at signs and symbols and techniques of topography, maps and charts and used this to investigate the process of
cyanotype. We looked at Da Vinci's sketchbooks which involve sketching, schematic drawing and annotation and students worked on developing skills in visual and verbal experiments and reflective annotation.
The workshops, which include
cyanotype making, printmaking and bridge building, are being led by specialist staff from the GSA's Open Studio team.
Diverse processes that will be shown include etching, woodcuts, screen-printing, risograph, engraving, lithography, gumprint and
cyanotype.
