Neighborhood Mixed Use
The primary implementation of complete neighborhoods is through creating a new, neighborhood-scale mixed-use zone - the Neighborhood Mixed-Use (NMU) zone - that allows for small-scale businesses to serve the neighborhood.
As part of the 2025 Code Package that became effective on June 28, 2025, the City rezoned 17 sites to NMU to advance complete neighborhood goals. These rezones were adopted after consideration of factors such as:
Access or lack of access to services currently Critical areas or other limiting site features (slope, etc.) Accessibility for pedestrians and bicycles Proximity to transit Availability of utility infrastructure Learn more about what services the community envisioned in Redmond neighborhoods (interactive StoryMap).
