The repellent properties of a number of Mannich's bases and derivatives of the esters of oxy- and aminobenzoic acids were tested against Aedes aegypti (L.) and Xenopsylla cheopis (Roths.) in the laboratory, and tables are given showing the coefficient of repellency to mosquitoes of 34 compounds and the duration of protection against fleas of 8 compounds. The derivatives of esters of o-oxybenzoic acid showed a protective effect that lasted 2-10 times as long as that of the standard, deet.
