The fatty acid composition of serum total lipids and lipid fractions in coronary heart disease and cerebral atherosclerosis

Concentrations of cholesterol, triglycerides and phospholipids were estimated in serum from 15 patients with coronary atherosclerosis, 13 with cerebral atherosclerosis and 12 normal healthy subjects and the fatty acid composition of each lipid fraction was estimated by gas chromatography. Values for cholesterol, phospholipid and triglyceride were higher than normal in cerebral atherosclerosis and greater still in the coronary patients.
