Jane Moulin

Jane Moulin was the sister of Georges Eugène Simon, a noted French geologist / geographer, who in the 1890s was instrumental in mapping the Mekong River delta in what is now Vietnam. Simon was later made a member of the Legion d’Honneur. Jane Moulin was born in England because her father was a senior lawyer for the French government, who was then serving as the Advocate to the Embassy and Consulate of France in London.

It is difficult to know who was the first French woman to compete at OG. Blanche de Marcigny (born Quersonnier) and Jane Moulin both competed in the same event the same day, but impossible to know who did in first. In his book on Blanche de Marcigny, Stéphane Gachet notes that, together with the French National Olympic Academy, they decided that Blanche would be the first.
