Love to marvel at inspiring artwork, experience cultural traditions,  or learn ancient history? New Brunswick's museums and galleries have everything from one-of-a-kind collections, to works from up-and-coming artists. Visit the Museum of the American Hungarian Foundation to view their rich history, the Rutgers Geology Museum to see an Egyptian priestess mummy and a mastodon skeleton from the Ice Age, or Alfa Art Gallery, an open art studio where artists can demonstrate their process or Above Art Studio where African American Art is showcased and where artist and visitors can participate in the many works, ultimately honing it as their own.

The largest of these is the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, one of the largest and most distinguished university-based museums in the country, with over 60,000 permanent works of art. It is open to the public six days a week and hosts exhibitions, educational programs, and performances. Admission is free.
