Navy Lookout is an independent publication with no formal affiliation with the Ministry of Defence, the Royal Navy, or any government body. The publication receives no public funding and takes no direction from industry, government, or any political organisation. These standards apply to all content published on the site.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Navy Lookout does not accept payment for editorial coverage. Advertising relationships have no influence over editorial decisions, and advertisers are not informed of, or consulted on, planned editorial content. Where a contributor has a professional relationship with a subject covered in their article, this is disclosed within the piece. We are keen to support the work of UK companies of all sizes within the naval supply chain and often collaborate on articles, but no fees are involved.
Accuracy and sourcing
Factual claims are sourced and checked before publication. Primary sources are cited where possible; secondary sources are used only where primary material is unavailable. Assertions from government, MoD or the RN are usually highlighted and assessed against available evidence.
Corrections
Errors are corrected promptly, where possible, as soon as we are alerted to them. Minor typographical corrections are made without notation and we sometimes modify articles if new information comes to light, although typically only within a day or two of publication. Inevitably, older articles will sometimes include information that is now out of date. If you believe a recent article contains a factual error, please contact the editorial team.
