A former surface Mn-Cu-Ag-Au mine located in the NE¼NE¼ sec. 15, T1N, R15E, about 0.4 miles E of Black Peak and about 1 mile ENE of Copper Hill ghost town site on private land. Produced in 1954. Originally one of the claims owned by the Arizona Commercial Mining Co. Previous operators include J.B. Norris; L.W. Racine; and A.R. Brockway. The Pontiac claim is a member of a large group of patented claims presently owned by the Miami Copper Co. Owned and operated by the Miami Copper Co. (1961).
Mineralization is an irregular ore body hosted in the Mescal Limestone. The ore zone is 106.68 meters long and 15.24 meters wide, striking N65E, and dipping NW. Manganese oxides occur on the claim near the northeastern end of a long persistent fault fissure, the north vein, from which copper-silver ores have been mined to the southwest. An associated rock unit is diabase.
The more promising outcrops along the zone had been explored by shallow scattered opencuts and some bulldozer stripping. Mn was mined only in 1954.
