World Cup Guide

Soccer fans watch Brazil vs France from the stands at Gillette Stadium

The Greater Boston area is hosting seven World Cup matches between June 13 and July 9, 2026. If you're coming to town for the tournament, the MBTA, often called the T, will get you where you need to go.

We provide subway, bus, train, and ferry service across eastern Massachusetts and parts of Rhode Island.

Getting to Boston Stadium

Boston Stadium (Gillette Stadium) is in the town of Foxborough, MA, about 22 miles (35 km) south of Boston.

MBTA Boston Stadium Train service will take you directly to and from each World Cup match.

  • A Boston Stadium Train ticket is required to ride. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance.
  • The train ride is about one hour.
  • This is the only MBTA service going directly to the stadium on matchdays.
  • There is no MBTA subway or bus service to Boston Stadium.

For each match, 14 Boston Stadium Trains will run express (no other stops) between South Station in Boston and Foxboro Station, next to the stadium.

South Station, Foxboro Station, and Boston Stadium Trains are fully accessible. Eligible riders can also apply for paratransit service to South Station.

Buy Train Tickets to Boston Stadium

Boston Stadium Train tickets for five Group Stage matches are on sale now, only in the mTicket mobile app.

Tickets are $80. All tickets include a return trip after the match. Boston Stadium Train tickets are also valid on all Commuter Rail trains on the day of your match.

Train tickets for Round of 32 and Quarterfinal matches will go on sale closer to the match dates.

Boarding Groups

Each ticket belongs to a boarding group (Boarding Group A, B, C, D, or E). The boarding group letter indicates when to be at South Station to check in for your train.

See the Boston Stadium Train schedules for check-in times and estimated arrival at Foxboro Station.

The last train arrives at Foxboro Station about 90 minutes before kick-off.

Important Ticket Information

  • Tickets must be purchased before boarding.
  • You must have a same-day World Cup match ticket to buy a Boston Stadium Train ticket.
  • Boston Stadium Train tickets cannot be refunded, exchanged, transferred, or resold.
  • All passengers, including children 11 and under, must have their own Boston Stadium Train ticket to board the train.

Before the Match

As matchday approaches, keep these tips in mind:

  • Review what's allowed on Boston Stadium Trains. Only wallets or small clear bags are permitted. Personal items cannot be left on the train during the match.
  • Plan your trip to South Station. The MBTA Red Line, Silver Line, and Commuter Rail provide direct service to the station. Due to large crowds, allow extra travel time.
  • Be at South Station to queue for your match train at the time assigned for your boarding group. Your boarding group letter is on your Boston Stadium Train ticket.
  • Activate your Boston Stadium Train ticket in the mTicket app on the day of your match, any time before you board your Boston Stadium Train.
  • Have your match ticket ready, too. All riders must have a valid same-day match ticket.

After the Match

All Boston Stadium Trains will return to South Station after the match.

  • Your return trip is included in your ticket.
  • Trains will start leaving Foxboro Station 30 minutes after the final whistle.
  • Return trains will leave the stadium roughly every 15 minutes until all trains have departed.

Fans can connect to subway and bus service at South Station after each match. All subway lines and select bus routes will run until approximately 2 AM after weekday matches and approximately 4 AM after the weekend match on Saturday, June 13 (into Sunday, June 14).
