I loved this back in the day and played the hell out of it. For 1984 this was a quality product and for me one of Intercepors better games.
Recently replayed it and its still really enjoyable. It seems more difficult than I remembered it to be but that probably says more about my hand eye co-ordination these days than it does the game.
Great stuff.
The game fits Interceptor well in a lot of ways - colourful, good audio, and slightly wacky but enjoyable premise.
Benham also produced the equally fun and noisy Guzzler for Interceptor, but for reasons not fully known (but certainly involving money), he moved on again mid way through producing what was due to be a sequel to Tales of the Arabian Nights. With a little alteration and removal of certain characters, this game remained property of Jason Benham and after completion was sold to Superior Software for publication.
Richard Paul Jones' stance on royalty payments made to programmers remained firm during the whole life span of Interceptor Micros - no programmers were given preferential treatment and everyone was paid £250 in advance for the first 2500 units sold. After that it raised and the programmer was paid 50 pence per unit sold, so long as the game remained at full price. This did encourage programmers to produce the quality and longevity of sales, and rewards could be high for a successful game.
I played this a lot with a friend, late into the night. 8. 5/10
