Topical silver
sulfadiazine cream was chosen because of its antimicrobial spectrum of action, antifungal properties, and promotion of epithelialization while being able to penetrate eschars and necrotic tissue.
Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (10 mg/kg/d trimethoprim) was first initiated because of limited availability of pyrimethamine plus
sulfadiazine at the time, but acute liver toxicity developed on treatment day 6 (increases in levels of aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase from 24/20 IU/L to 127/145 IU/L[(reference 10-42 IU/L]).
Aloe vera dressing for once or twice a day has been more effective than the current treatments, including petroleum jelly gauze dressing, silver
sulfadiazine 1% ointment, and framycetin cream.
At 15 to 60 degrees, the same application of topicals did not alter the surface dose as a function of beam incident, except for a 6 percent increase at 60 degrees with the silver
sulfadiazine cream.
Sulfadiazine may crystallize in the kidney while Indinavir and Atazanavir may form renal calculi.

sulfadiazine) plates were also used to study the antimicrobial effect for comparison purpose [31].
Sulfonamide (SAs) standards:
sulfadiazine (SDZ), sulfadoxine (SDX), sulfamethoxazole (SMZ), and sulfathiazole (STZ) were all 99.9% (Sigma-Aldrich, Germany); acetonitrile and methanol for LC-MS and dichloromethane for HPLC (Merck Germany); 98-100% formic acid (Sigma-Aldrich, Germany); trichloroacetic acid, p.a., and sodium hydroxide (Penta, Czech Republic); argon (Linde Gas, Germany).

He prescribed silver
sulfadiazine cream twice daily, levofloxacin 500 mg for 7 days, and warm-water soaks.
spiramycin or azithromycin 1g per oral (PO) q8h or pyrimethamine (50 mg/d PO) and
sulfadiazine (3 g/d PO in 2-3 divided doses) until delivery.
