Total ash (TA %) among legumes increased from 9.70% (Lygos raetam), 12.21% (Vicia sativa) to 22.05% (Trigonella maritima) and 23.24% (Ononis vaginalis).
In contrast, among legumes, ADF varied between 15.29 g/kg for Astraglus homosus and 36.77 g/kg for Lygos raetam. While, among forbs ADF content of analyzed plants varied between 16.77 g/kg for Atriplex nummularia and 45.80 g/kg for Deverra trotuosa.
In legumes, cellulose content varied between 4.39 g/kg (Astraglus homosus) and 27.77 g/kg (Lygos raetam) whilst among forbs cellulose contents of tested plants varied between 2.75 g/kg for Atriplex nummularia and 34.75 g/kg for Gymnocarpos decandrum.
Among legumes IVOMD varied between 34.07% (Trigonella maritime) and 60.57% (Lygos raetam) while, among forbs IVOMD of tested plants varied between 64.11% (Deverra trotuosa) and 33.66% (Atriplex halimus).
Conclusions: The high crude protein and moderate fiber content, along with high IVDMD found in Ammophila arenaria, Trigonella maritima and Vicia monantha, Vicia sativa, Atriplex nummularia, Ononis vaginalis and Lycium shawii suggested that these plants have a greater nutritive value than the highly fibrous and of moderate IVDMD species such as: Lygeum spartum, Lygos raetam, Panicum coloratum, Lolium rigidum, Gymnocarpos decandrum, Deverra trotuosa and Aeluropus lagopoides.

A section dominated by shrubs, such as Retama raetam, which may become 3 m high, prevails farther down the wadi system.
In wadis the upper soil layers support typical desert vegetation, with Anabasis articulata, Haloxylon salicornicum, Zygophyllum dumosum, Retama raetam, and Lycium shawii as the principal contributors.
Layers of such colluvium near the visitors' center of the Dana Nature Reserve are dominated by Artemisia sieberi or Noaea mucronata steppe or a community dominated by Retama raetam and Noaea mucronata.
raetam is listed amongst important anti-diabetic plants in folk's medicine in India [62].
raetam possesses significant hypoglycaemic effect in both normal and streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats [37,38] found that the plant aqueous extract exhibits lipid and body weight lowering activities in both normal and severe hyperglycemic rats after repeated oral administration of the plant aqueous extract at a dose of 20 mg/kg.
raetam showed a great replant effect and as toxic as Imidacloprid to the sweet potato whitefly Bemisia tabaci affecting sweet potato in Jordan [16].
