Across the streets, at wide intervals, one clumsy lamp was slung by a rope and
pulley; at night, when the lamplighter had let these down, and lighted, and hoisted them again, a feeble grove of dim wicks swung in a sickly manner overhead, as if they were at sea.
Just as in a clock, the result of the complicated motion of innumerable wheels and
pulleys is merely a slow and regular movement of the hands which show the time, so the result of all the complicated human activities of 160,000 Russians and French- all their passions, desires, remorse, humiliations, sufferings, outbursts of pride, fear, and enthusiasm- was only the loss of the battle of Austerlitz, the so-called battle of the three Emperors- that is to say, a slow movement of the hand on the dial of human history.

The matter was so prearranged that it is my belief that they brought with them some sort of block or
pulley which might serve as a gallows.
If the injustice has a spring, or a
pulley, or a rope, or a crank, exclusively for itself, then perhaps you may consider whether the remedy will not be worse than the evil; but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law.
It is called The

pulley change-out due to excessive wear is difficult.
Pulley misalignment can be angular, between the driving and driven
pulley in either the vertical or horizontal plane, or it can be parallel, with one
pulley offset from the other as the
pulleys are viewed from the edge.
Further proving the point, one investigator in this matter performed fatigue testing of coupons cut from exemplar
pulleys and was unable to identify any evidence of fatigue.
