The Luak, according to Chris Nemmer, director of the National Zoo's Conservation & Research Center, is the common palm civet (paradoxurus hermaphrodites), a very widespread species throughout SE Asia which is also known as the toddy cat because of its fondness for fermented palm sap (or toddy); and Luak Coffee is the coffee resulting from beans that have been processed by passing through the digestive system of this remarkable little coffee expert and processing mill.

London, June 8 (ANI): A coffee shop is serving up coffee made from beans of coffee berries that have been eaten by an Asian Toddy cat and passed through its digestive tract - for 9 pounds a cup.

But be warned - the luxury pounds 9 cups of Kopi Luwak, made from berries swallowed by Asian Toddy Cats then passed through their system, are unlikely to be on the menu.
