Somalia's Special Forces seized a truck laden with heavy explosives in Sabiid, a small village outside the capital Mogadishu, which they recently captured from al Shabaab terrorists.
Deputy Commercial Attache said that no international exhibition has been held ever in
Somalia. He said that there is no Expo Centre there in
Somalia and for local exhibitions they book hotels.
The announcement was followed by a statement from the new ambassador, Donald Yamamoto, that the US will invest $900m in the coming years "to create a better tomorrow for the people of
Somalia".
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI Vice President Fahim-ur-Rehman Saigal said that private sector of the two countries should explore ways as to how both Pakistan and
Somalia can benefit from each other.
He said that
Somalia is a member state of African Union and also part of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
He announced that first-ever 'Made in Pakistan' exhibition will be held in
Somalia next year.
"In terms of the wider confrontation between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, on the one hand, and Qatar, on the other, the Federal Government of
Somalia has sought to remain neutral; whereas, in retaliation, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have ceased their regular budgetary support payments to
Somalia, which further weakens the government's ability to pay the security forces," the EU Parliament's resolution read.
Nnenna Nwabufo, Deputy Director General, Eastern Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office and country Manager for
Somalia, underscored the importance of enhancing oversight in the energy sector in
Somalia through the establishment of the proposed Somali Electrification Institute (SEI).
He said DP World's agreement to develop an economic zone and port in Somaliland's Berbera "bypassed the legitimate authority" of
Somalia, triggering "misunderstanding and disagreement" that remained unresolved.
Inclusion of
Somalia has further strengthened COMSATS' presence in Africa.

Somalia's ports and the ability to project influence throughout Africa
