The second clade (also called the intermediate clade) consisted of 86 WOXs homologous to Arabidopsis WOX8, WOX9, WOX11, and WOX12, which are only from 28 vascular plant species, that is, 6 from Lycopodiophyta, 5 from coniferophyta, 23 from Liliopsida, and 52 WOXs from eudicots.

In your article on Welwitschia mirabilis, you state that "botanists have classified it with conifers." On the contrary, botanists classify it in the phylum Gnetophyta, along with Gnetum and Ephedra, rather than in the phylum Coniferophyta. F.M.

Cycads are related to conifers and come from the plant division Coniferophyta, also known as the Gymnosperms, which literally means naked seeds, which are at the primitive end of the plant kingdom, but they are survivors, having been around for 250 million years or so.

Our screening of NCBI and other databases for TAS3 sequences showed two TAS3 subfamiles (one-tasiARF and two-tasiARF) in many representatives Coniferophyta (our unpublished data).

It is in the plant kingdom and in the division of Coniferophyta, the class of Pinopsida and family of Pinace.

Even though Schweitzer and Kirchner (1996) retain this family in the Coniferophyta, there remains too much uncertainty about the structure of the fructifications to include the family in this study.
