In a new paper published today in the Nature journal Communications Biology, Professor Georgios Giamas and his team describe particular biomarkers that are associated with extracellular vesicles - small 'packages' released by cells into
bodily fluids so cells can communicate with each other.
"The measures are: Wash hands regularly with soap and water, especially after changing nappies or coming into contact with
bodily fluids; avoid kissing babies, toddlers and small children directly on the mouth; avoid sharing cutlery, drinks or food with children, and don't put dummies in your mouth; wash any items that have been contaminated by
bodily fluids with soap and water."
The report also states that "the department was not always as clean as it should be, with dirty rooms and smears of
bodily fluids on walls".
But they added that a simple saline solution, or salt water like that of
bodily fluids, also performed well.

The infection can be transmitted only through direct contact with the
bodily fluids of an infected person.
He added: "It is important to remember that the infection can only be transmitted through contact with
bodily fluids."
Public health experts emphasized that Ebola can only be transmitted through direct contact with
bodily fluids of an infected person already displaying symptoms of the virus, which has killed thousands in West Africa.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)--including goggles or face shields, gloves, and gowns--effectively are decreasing West African caregivers' exposure to infected
bodily fluids, but workers still are at risk "if removal of protective clothing that is contaminated with infectious
bodily fluids is not done in a manner that prevents exposure," stress the authors, who include Trish M.
