The pediatric mental health crisis calls for scalable, upstream prevention strategies that strengthen families and promote healthy child development early in life. This presentation will share lessons learned from the Filipino Family Health Initiative (FFHI), which has partnered with Filipino families across California to implement the Incredible Years (IY) evidence-based parenting programs through culturally grounded, community-engaged approaches.
Drawing from partnerships with parents, grandparents, schools, churches, community-based organizations, healthcare and mental health providers, and city leaders, this talk will highlight strategies used to build a community-wide culture of healthy parenting and early relational health. The presentation will also discuss approaches for integrating evidence-based parenting interventions into real-world community and healthcare systems while conducting rigorous research and advancing sustainable models to expand access for families with infants and toddlers across populations that have historically experienced lower engagement in behavioral health services.
