PALO ALTO, Calif.—EDA vendor Mentor Graphics Corp. said Thursday (Jan. 22) it has acquired the C synthesis assets of Agility Design Solutions Inc., the tools formerly marketed by Celoxica Holdings.
Mentor (Wilsonville, Ore.) said it intends to offer continued sales and support to existing customers, as well as an upgrade path to the Catapult C Synthesis high-level synthesis tool.
The electronic system level (ESL) products associated with this acquisition are the Handel C-based algorithm synthesis flow found in the DK Design Suite, PixelStreams and the RC Series of FPGA development and prototyping boards, according to Mentor. Key employees will join Mentor to ensure continued product support, the company said.
Unable to either renegotiate its line of credit or obtain further capital investments, Agility said earlier this week it would cease operations in the very near future and was in final negotiations stage to sell its C Solutions products to a leading EDA company. The company's products had reportedly gained some traction in the market.
“Mentor understands ESL very well and is offering our customers continued support and a way forward with a technology that has proven itself to be a time-to-market saver,” said Dave Burow, Agility's CEO, in a statement. “By working with Mentor Graphics, we can safeguard the trust that our customers put in us.”
