Equipment:
Rotel CD11MKII (black) via its on-board Texas Instruments 32-bit/384kHz DAC (for standard CDs) or
Pioneer Elite DV-48AV DVD player via 6 channel output (for surround discs or SACD)
Yamaha YP-211 turntable with Ortofon Omega 1e cartridge
Philips FR-965 receiver with Klipsch Reference R-50M fronts, Polk Audio Blackstone TL-1 center, Klipsch Reference R-41M rear and Klipsch R-121SW sub.
I've also recently started listening to the Rotel as a transport to a Fosi K5 Pro DAC feeding a pair of Edifier MR3 powered monitor speakers (white) for later evening listening, when neighbors are home. They have amazing bass and clarity at lower volume. I also have a pair of them in black acting as my TV's speakers since I couldn't find a soundbar I liked.
Note: I listen with nearly flat EQ. No bass boost, no loudness button. I do reduce treble by -10 (smallest adjustment I can make) on the Philips receiver.
I'm slowly adding my collection here as I re-listen to them. Currently have around 2400 CD titles and if I get caught up on adding those I'll add the rest of only 320 vinyl.
I first became interested in collecting music around age 9 and my 10th year brought my first stereo record player and weekly listens to Casey Kasem's America's Top 40 where I heard an amazing variety of hits. This was a time (1981) when country crossover artists were right alongside r&b/funk artists so you might hear Rick James followed by Dolly Parton on the same radio station. I believe this is precisely why I love so many styles of music. In more recent years, thrift stores became a source of new styles to listen to. I would sometimes purchase a whole box with 75 CDs of all kinds and ended up getting more into jazz & country thanks to this. The wokdemic and tax problems sadly ended my favorite chain of local thrift stores but I still occasionally find something worth buying here and there.
I do still enjoy vinyl on occasion but it's more of a nostalgia thing for me. I don't even have a proper way of cleaning records and no desire to invest much into their care. CDs are my preferred means of music delivery.
