The Beatles – Magical Mystery Tour

I have been waiting years, and I mean YEARS to have the funds and the opportunity to acquire a copy of this pressing (A1 - B3 and NM condition). It was one of my 'grails'. Having now obtained it, wow I mean, so so worth it, the hype is totally justified with this pressing. Utterly sublime.....worth, every, penny. I am one happy boy.

Hi,does anybody know: are the 3 last tracks, Penny Lane, Baby.., All you need ..., on this Italian LP true stereo mixes as the ones of the German LP with Matrix B - 3 ???

Very punchy bass on this mix. True stereo also. I have both the Mobility Sound Lab issue from the 80's and this one. Both are my favorites. This has a more punchy bass, but I'd be happy listening to either one.

I thought this was one of the best sounding 2012s when I first got it, but then I heard the famous HorZu...

It still is, of course, but the mixed reputation of the 2012 series is deserved. Not one of them is in any way a contendant for best sounding stereo copy. Compared to the German, this doesn't have nearly the soundstage (very typical for this series), and the instruments don't have nearly as much detail or presence. Comparing the opening piano chords on The Fool on the Hill for example and on the 2012 it sounds a bit distorted and low fidelity, whereas they sound pristine on the German. Considering they went to the master tapes for this series, and it was done so many decades later, I don't see how the quality declined so far.

The only thing this has over the German musically is the fade to mono for I Am the Walrus in the second half which for me works a lot better than going to fake stereo in the German. The cover and contents are also way better. For the asking price and ease of access it's a very fine option, but it could've and probably should've been a lot better.

The pressing is excellent, the record is flat, plays cleanly, without distortion (washed out). The sound is fantastic. The cover and booklet are of high quality.
Another great album that I hope will never cease to enjoy.

Las ediciones con la etiqueta naranja de los 70 son muy valoradas por los oyentes porque, para esa época, Capitol ya había dejado de usar el "Duophonic" (falso estéreo) en muchos tracks y utilizaba mezclas estéreo reales, además de que el vinilo de esa década suele tener un sonido muy limpio.hermoso ejemplar en mi colección hoy

pretty crummy sound on a handful of tracks but a fun one to own. Lots of amazing songs, some of the beatles' best imo.

Wally Traugott recut the entire first side of this pressing as my album has "Wly" etched in the dead wax. It sounds wonderful, even the b-side duophonic tracks are tolerable. Love this press!

Compared to my '67 Capital Jacksonville it is noticeably more "compressed". I didn't notice it being particularly brighter in comparison though. I can concur that there is a fair amount of sibilance on side 2. If you don't have it, and see it at a good deal, consider it, but otherwise I'd look for a different release.
