Welfare. The Municipality strengthens social services with 34 new hires.

Milan, 30 May 2026 The City of Milan will strengthen its welfare efforts by recruiting new professionals within its local and specialized social services. With a resolution, the City Council approved a change in budget allocations, which, with €4,4 million from the 2021-2027 National Inclusion and Fight Against Poverty program, will allow for the hiring of new staff on fixed-term contracts for a three-year period.

The team consists of 34 people, including 25 psychologists, 7 socio-pedagogical educators, and 2 accounting officers, whose economic and financial backgrounds make them essential to managing social projects. All these figures will enhance the Municipality's specialized services: the neutral space, the team that handles the social investigations that the Court assigns to social services when necessary to reach a more appropriate decision and action, and the first- and second-level territorial services (the first level conducts the initial needs assessment, the second level handles the more complex cases requiring ongoing support).

The hiring will take place following a process that began in late 2024, when the municipal administration responded to an expression of interest promoted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies. Hiring will be based on a regional ranking list compiled following a public competition.

"We are pleased," states Lamberto Bertolé, Councilor for Welfare and Health, "that the enormous effort the Welfare and Health Directorate offices make every day to ensure adequate responses to increasingly complex social needs and increasingly evident vulnerabilities has been recognized. This work must be strengthened and made even more widespread throughout the local communities, with the addition of personnel with increasingly specific skills who can identify vulnerabilities and act promptly to prevent situations from becoming chronic. We have long been advocating that the social needs emerging in large cities not be underestimated, and for this reason, we hope this funding will be confirmed, as it is absolutely essential that these professionals be a structural presence in our teams."

Culture. The process for the new MUDEC - Museum of Cultures concession begins.

The guidelines for the awarding of cultural activities and catering, bookshop, and parking services have been approved. Sacchi: "The MUDEC of the future will double the museum space and increase the number of exhibits."

Milan, May 29 2026 – The process for a new concession for MUDEC - Milan's Museum of Cultures has begun. With the agreement with 24ORE Cultura expiring in March 2027, the City Council has approved the guidelines for the launch of the European public tender process for the concession of services for the ethno-anthropological museum at Via Tortona 56, located within the former Ansaldo municipal complex and now one of the city's main cultural centers and internationally.

The new concession will cover the integrated management of the museum's cultural activities, cafeteria and restaurant services, bookshop, and parking, following a model that confirms the public-private partnership already established in recent years.

The tender will be divided into a single lot and published by the end of June, with bid submission expected by the end of September. The annual fee set as the starting price for the tender will be €100 plus VAT, subject to increase at the time of bidding. The new concession will have a term of eight years.

The award will be based on the most economically advantageous tender, based on the best quality/price ratio. The evaluation of the bids will award up to 80 points for qualitative elements and up to 20 points for financial aspects, with particular attention to design quality, cultural promotion, and management sustainability. The concessionaire must ensure at least two international exhibitions per year, accompanied by a comprehensive program of events, educational activities, guided tours, and initiatives aimed at schools, families, and other audiences, consistent with the museum's cultural mission.

Particular attention will also be paid to additional services—a bookshop, bistro, and restaurant—which must develop a high-quality offering consistent with MUDEC's visual and cultural identity. The concession will also include management of the museum's underground parking lot, open 24 hours a day, with electronic payment systems and surveillance services.

"With this measure," stated Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi, "we continue the process of promoting MUDEC as a contemporary museum open to the world: the new concession will guarantee high-profile programming consistent with the museum's mission, quality services, and a strong capacity to attract Milanese, national, and international audiences. At the same time, the new structure will significantly expand the museum spaces managed by the Municipality, doubling the area dedicated to the permanent collection—from 500 to 1000 square meters, with a dedicated children's room—and significantly increasing the number of works on display, from 300 to 700. We thus intend to strengthen MUDEC's identity as a central hub for contemporary culture and interdisciplinary research."

Palazzo MarinoNew summer concert season: information and updates

Milan, May 29 2026 The summer season of outdoor concerts resumes in June, with updated guidelines shared at the Prefecture. The City of Milan, along with AMAT (Agency for Mobility, Environment and Territory), coordinated a study conducted in collaboration with the Police Force, Fire Brigade, Civil Protection and Local Police, AREU, promoters and site owners.
The guidelines, already contained in the 2024 resolution updated at the last City Council meeting, aim to ensure safe events, minimize disruption to residents, minimize private vehicle traffic, prevent illegal parking by encouraging the use of on-site parking and strengthening street controls, and enhance public transportation by facilitating the arrival of spectators by public transportation and identifying specific plans for directing incoming and outgoing traffic.

"The Plan is the result of ongoing commitment and interinstitutional collaboration that has already yielded significant results in recent summers. We are constantly working to collect and analyze all available data to ensure continuous improvement and increased use of public transportation," commented Deputy Mayor Anna Scavuzzo and Councilor for Mobility Arianna Censi. "This is certainly a key element in reducing the critical issues associated with large crowds. The La Maura Hippodrome is the case we began studying, thanks to the expertise of AMAT and the Polytechnic University of Milan. The results presented to the Prefecture are decidedly positive: public transport use increased from 23% in 2024 to 32% in 2025, and on-street parking decreased from 46% to 42%. We extended the same recommendations to the Ippodromo del Galoppo and the San Siro Stadium, also integrating these locations into the study and data collection. This year we want to achieve even better results, for La Maura and for all the event and concert venues."

The Plan confirms the usefulness of red zones to limit access and filter areas to facilitate safe pedestrian flow; the presence of law enforcement and local police at access points and on access roads discourages illegal parking and contributes to orderly flow; the organizers' agreements with parking facilities, as well as the extension of the opening hours of some park-and-ride facilities and the expansion of public transport services, provide alternatives to the use of private cars and the on-street parking of vehicles and motorcycles.
Bicycle use is strongly encouraged, and agreements are being explored for secure parking to encourage its use. At the San Siro and Ippodromi venues, the latest end time for performances remains 23:30 PM. At least two days off per week are also planned, and no events will overlap in multiple locations.

Upgrades and extended timetables for some metro lines, as well as special openings of park-and-ride parking lots, have been planned, varying according to the concert area. For San Siro, the M1 and M5 lines will be extended until approximately 1:00 AM, and the Lampugnano parking lot will be open until 2:00 AM. For concerts at the Ippodromo La Maura, the M1 Rho FieraMilano-Sesto line and the M5 line will close at approximately 2:00 AM (last departures from the termini at 1:30 AM), while the Lampugnano, Molino Dorino, Bisceglie, and Famagosta parking lots will be open until 2:30 AM. Finally, for events at the Ippodromo San Siro, the last train on the M1 from Lotto to Sesto will depart at 12:23 AM, the last train to Rho Fiera at 12:24 AM, and the last train to Molino Dorino at 12:43 AM. The last train from Lotto to Bignami leaves at 00.04 and to San Siro Stadium at 00.23.
The Municipality of Milan and ATM with the link They will provide useful information for travel, which will also be shared on the artists' websites and specialized sites, thanks to the collaboration of the promoters.

Regarding the impact on mobility, concert organizers are required to contribute €0,8 per ticket to the costs of improving public transportation for each authorized event, as per the municipal resolution.

Regarding Unipol Dome Milano Santa Giulia, the two test concerts held in the first half of May saw the development of a provisional accessibility plan, including the establishment of a restricted access red zone, the enhancement of public tram and metro transport services, and the activation of dedicated shuttle buses between the M3 Rogoredo station and the Arena. In preparation for the upcoming autumn events, an accessibility plan will be finalized, which will include strengthening the measures implemented, focusing on enhancing local public transport, traffic management, and combating illegal parking on the street.

For summer 2026, the program currently includes 19 dates at the San Siro Stadium, 5 at the La Maura Hippodrome, 8 at the Galoppo Hippodrome, in addition to those at Rho Fiera and the Parco della Musica in Segrate which are still being finalized.
This latter site was included in the list provided for by the municipal resolution in place of the MIND area which, conversely, will not be used for concerts this year because it is a construction site.
The first scheduled event is on June 6th with Tiziano Ferro at the San Siro Stadium.
