He later overhears some crooks taking about searching the carnival grounds for hidden loot, so he sends a telegram to The Vigilante via Greg Sanders, who is due to make a singing appearance there. The crooks put up a false Singing Troubadour in order to get the kids to search for them, but The Vigilante's appearance puts paid to their scheme.
