List of Passengers
This page is a full-text transcript of the Passenger List for Caronia's Spring Mediterranean Cruise from New York 11 May 1956. It is constructed by combining information from Cunard's published list issued to passengers and the Ship's Manifest presented to U.K. Immigration.
In the published list there were 564 passengers shown, including the Cruise Staff. There were 2 additions from the Manifest making 566 overall. 280 passengers, including 4 crossing the English Channel, disembarked at Southampton.
For cruises, Caronia's Passenger Lists were handbooks providing advice and answering a number of frequently asked questions. Instead of repeating this within every transcript, its content forms the start page of the 1951 Virtual Great World Cruise.
Notes
- Passengers marked with a ¶ suffix, apart from 2 additions, are shown crossed-through on the Manifest list with no reason given. Apart from the 2 additions shown, they are not counted
- Passengers assumed to have disembarked at Cherbourg could have left the ship earlier
- Many First-Names have been appended from the Manifest
Accuracy
Because no Errata List was preserved with the original document, the listing below should not be read as being definitive! No guarantee of accuracy can be given with regard to marital status or indeed spelling of names. Any proven corrections will be welcomed.
