Introduction

Fare Schedule

Uniquely, in Caronia's career this was the first of a set of 4 identical 14-day cruises to the Caribbean and South America. Later cruises would offer a range of both itinerary and duration.

To avoid repetition, each Virtual Cruise on the Timeline follows a different content and style approach. Although most elements are present for this short cruise, it does not cover planning. This is covered in detail on the Virtual 1951 World Cruise.

This being just a 14 day cruise, I'm able to concentrate on one aspect which was common to all “Green Goddess” cruises. The highlight of this Virtual Cruise being an illustrated deck hike.

Fares Schedule

The per person prices quoted are of course for the time, and to equate with today's values they probably need to be multiplied by about 1,200 per cent! With single fares ranging from $560 to $1,250, and fares for two sharing ranging from $425 to $1,750, they were by no means cheap!

Shore Arrangements

Shore Excursion
programme cover

The shore arrangements for this Virtual Cruise are transcribed onto 2 pages from the original brochure. Other Virtual Cruises have this broken up into several pieces making for convenient reading.

This approach gives an indication of the original document. The only difference being that images that featured in the Cunard brochure for this set of cruises have also been added.
