2027 Workshop for Department Chairs and Leaders

The American Mathematical Society hosts an annual workshop for department chairs and leaders. In this one-day session, the objective is to provide opportunities for participants to share ideas and experiences and to foster the development of a community of peers who can continue to provide one another support and ideas in the vital role of department chair.

  • The workshop provides an opportunity to share experiences about issues and trends that have an impact on math department chairs, math departments, and colleges and universities. Previous topics have included resources, handling stress (students, staff and faculty), curriculum, conflict management, AI in the classroom, pathways for non-acaedmic careers, and instructional delivery.
