VH1 Presents the Corrs Live in Dublin

There's a special energy when the Corrs play in front of an audience in Ireland and it hasn't been this obvious since their Lansdowne Road performance. They show remarkable confidence and energy in this liveVH1 recording, recorded January 25, 2002 at Ardmore Studios in Wicklow, Ireland. This was the same studio in which they recorded their previous VH1 Unplugged album.

Would You Be Happier, which was previously unreleased until last year's Best of the Corrs album, is a great start with a simple, yet profound message, and it's become one of my favorite songs. This show's new arrangement of Breathless, already one of their biggest worldwide hits, has a more rock edge and benefits from the capable backing of the Irish Film Orchestra. The song takes on a new and larger scale because of it and is the best I've heard them play it yet.

When the Stars Go Blue, with Bono of U2, is a great track. If they don't release it as a single, they'll be missing a golden opportunity! Comparing it to some of the insipid hit duets featuring Jennifer Lopez, it blows them away. Bono is also enjoyably featured in Summer Wine. Andrea Corr and Bono show a genuine chemistry and obvious professional regard for each other. Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones makes an appearance on their rendition of Jimi Hendix's Little Wing with a rousing electric guitar solo. Contrary to the Editorial Review, he DOES also play on the album's final track, the Rolling Stones Ruby Tuesday, and is credited as such on the jacket. Only this time he's playing an acoustic guitar and doesn't get the splashy solo to make it obvious. Joy of Life, Runaway, Only Love Can Break Your Heart, and Radio are songs we've heard before. They're all enthusiastically and capably delivered here, as is So Young, one of their most famous songs. All of the songs benefit from the additional presence of the orchestra. Just as on Unplugged, I think I would have preferred to hear the orchestra a bit more loudly, as the recording has the Corrs and guests clearly out in front, so the effect is more subtle than obvious. You just notice that the songs seem larger and deeper than before.

The recording is top notch, made all the more remarkable by the fact that it hit store shelves only six weeks after being recorded. It was mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered by Bob Ludwig, two giants in the recording industry. They're widely regarded as the best that money can buy and are booked up well in advance. To go from performance to retail so quickly using them shows remarkable planning and indicates that the Corrs are getting the best technical people available. Interestingly, the tracks have been rearranged from the VH1 TV special, but it's done so seamlessly and the editing so smooth that you'd never know if you hadn't seen it. Hopefully VH1 will release a Region 1 DVD of the show.

In short, two enthusiastic thumbs up! The Corrs have grown as a band and this recording was a real treat. Especially during the two songs with Bono, you get the feeling that something really special is happening. If you like the Corrs, you'll love this. If you don't know them, give it a try, they just might win you over too. Now if only they would do a US tour...!

Amazing. This is a joyous, splendid collection of music and magic. It has been a long time since I have felt a tingle from a vocal performance but Andrea, Sharon, and Caroline are in wonderful form during this recording. Only Love Can Break Your Heart is rendered so well it borders on the sublime. Runaway, if you don't have it on another recording, is worth the price of the CD alone. The instrumental piece Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath is full of life and verve.

The recording captured the vocals and harmonizing beautifully. Every track is a joy and the CD gets better with repeated listening. Would you be happier? is pure fun. I am beginning to realize the Corrs are one of those few groups that come around every generation with the ability to connect through lyrics, music, and vocals with their audience in an amazing way. I don't think it would be possible if they were not creating the product from the ground up. What is astounding is they do it with covers on this album also. But they truly make the songs their own and they make you forget you have ever heard them before. Treat yourself or someone you know to this CD.

When I did a search for the product I requested the DVD version of the VH1 Presents the Corrs Live in Dublin. I purchased the product that it showed me to find out it was not DVD version but CD version which I already had. I never returned it because the first order was lost so I had to contact customer service. After all the hassel when I finally received my order I was disappointed to find out it was a CD not a DVD.

A recent addition to fill out my Corrs collection. After giving it a full listen, I have decided that, if I could take only one album to a deserted island, this is the one. Engineered to perfection to showcase the musicianship of the band and the exquisite vocals and harmonies. Mixed in with familiar songs both Celtic and pop that they are famous for is a guest performer or two and a couple of exceptional covers. Truly a joy to listen to!

I was ecstatic to find this Corrs Live in Dublin CD online because my husband broke the last one he had, and he really loved it. He was celebrating a big birthday, so I wanted to get it for him by the birthday date. This item shipped very fast, the price was extremely reasonable (which it had to be or I couldn't have purchased it), and my husband says it is great! (I have yet to hear it because it's in his car.) The case was cracked a bit, just like this vendor described it, which was fine with us. Thanks again!!!

In contrast to albums like "In Blue" where they've been over-produced towards blandness, this album captures The Corrs honestly and the result is spectacular. Not one dud. And quite possibly the best version of "Ruby Tuesday" by anyone.

I don't know why, but, even though I am a huge music fan and listen to the radio all the time, I'd never heard of The Corrs until their VH1 special. I turned it on more for background noise than anything and couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. This group is fantastic! I've been of the opinion that video has killed the music industry by force-feeding us hoards of pretty but talent-less "pop sensations". Then along come The Corrs, who are not only stunningly beautiful, but tremendous musicians and performers. I immediately bought their album and started playing their music on my guitar. Forget those "Pop imposters". This is the real thing, right here. Erin Go Bragh!

Great recording! They cover a lot of their material including When The Stars Go Blue and Little Wing which are excellent. They perform several of their "hits", Breathless, Would You Be Happier, Runaway, etc. Guests Bono and Ron Wood add creditability to the recording if anyone has doubts. They are a fantastic group, extremely talented and this a great recording!

Album che volevo da tempo, live eccezionale i Corrs non si smentiscono ovviamente consigliato agli amanti del genere.....pacco arrivato nei tempi previsti.
