Trivelpiece announces He�ll step down March 30
ORNL Director Al Trivelpiece announced July 21 that he will step down as ORNL director on the day Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation�s contract to manage and operate ORNL expires.

�On March 31, 2000, I will step down as the director of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. On April 1, 2000, a new contractor will assume responsibility for the management and operation of ORNL. I will work with the selected contractor to ensure a smooth transition once the Department of Energy has made its selection,� he said.

Announced bidders on the ORNL contract are teams co-led by the University of Tennessee and Battelle and Universities Research Association and Lockheed Martin Corporation.
