Some things about me

🧠 Having equipped myself with a broad scientific background on computer science and machine learning, I worked for 2 years as a PhD researcher at Group Neurophysiology of KU Leuven, carrying out research on deep Convolutional Neural Networks and their similarities with the visual system 👀

📊 Next, I worked as a Data Scientist for approximately a year in a small - at that time - startup called Faktion in Antwerp. There I became familiar with various Industry practices and applications including: setting up end-to-end ML pipelines, training models for AI tasks, creating deployable Docker containers, setting up Cloud components and participating in 2 hackathons, winning one of them 🏆

🪰 I then went back to KU Leuven to do more applied research and obtain my PhD in Bioscience Engineering 🎓 At MeBioS, KU Leuven, where I am now employed as a Post-doctoral researcher, I am utilizing Machine Learning to build intelligent automated insect-monitoring systems that demand high real-world performance based on data gathered by optical sensors.In addition, I perform research on hyperspectral imaging and supervise the theses of doctoral and master's level students. My participation to each project spans numerous phases, from data collection and annotation through data analysis and model development.

💻 The next step is to get a deeper understanding of MLOps tools and techniques while delivering my trained models to the cloud or embedding them in field agricultural devices (e.g., insect traps or imaging setups). 📈
