I just turned in the book proposal for the manuscript and I wasn't prepared for how much weight that's lifted. I'm celebrating by wearing my flower and bat dress and playing rock band with my colleagues this afternoon.

Next week in the history of video games/history in video games in class we're going over soundtracks and playing Rock Band. I discovered on the way home in the car that I probably should not volunteer to be a singer. Especially for Def Leppard's "Foolin."

Me: I'm just going to go through this recently digitized collection of laws for some book revisions. Surely not every law in this collection addresses violence. Me,
hours later and staring down 4000 pages, a good percentage addressing violence: When will I ever learn?

Me: I'm going to use fall break to get caught up on all the things. Emails, book writing, DH projects, cleaning, reading....
Covid booster: You think so? That's cute.
(Obviously get it. I'm one of the unlucky ones who was down for the count for 4 days but 10/10 will do again)

Due to a tech snafu, I pulled together a last-minute lecture on metadata that involved creating a character and playing D&D in class. The students loved it. 11/10 will do again. As an aside, a higher than expected percentage chose to play elves.

I'm playing Skyrim with my students tomorrow and they are about to learn a lot more about me. Namely, I'm socially awkward, I'm always on the lookout for better boots, I'm a skilled lock pick, and I hate fighting ice dragons. Classroom dynamics will never be the same.
