Hello! My name is Andy, and I live in California, USA. I am a nearly 37 year old man and I've been on Reddit for 10 years. I have only been on WP for about a week.

I am primarily using this subreddit for writing, but I browse around and read some, too. I want to get better at writing. I have an idea for a story/novel and have been slowly working on an outline. I just finished watching all of Brandon Sanderson's BYU lectures on YouTube. I love the idea of getting traditionally published. I want to go on book tours and meet people, and see my book on store shelves.

I use Word to write, and have no idea how fast I can type. I am not a touch typist, unfortunately.

My goal for this year is to get a rough draft completed, and I am excited to be joining others in this creative outlet of writing!

To be honest, I’m really excited to work on the emerging projects: specifically Dial H and Darkhawk. The latter is kind of deepish into identity and what it means to be you—while simultaneously being a superhero project. Both these works are special because they have OCs—a rare event for me. I can’t wait to see where Kezia and Ness Lucas go in Dial H.

Hi, my name is Charles. I live in California. I always wanted to be a writer, but life took me to science and business without my consent. 😜 I am fairly new to Reddit and have found this sub very intriguing. I hope to write some this year. I am looking forward to vaccination and returning to the norms if I could define what they are. I would love to write for constructive feedback. Thank you.

Welcome, Charles!

I was in the same boat, I used to love writing in high school, but then majored into software engineering in college. Eventually I got back into writing again, thanks to r/WritingPrompts!

Hey all, I'm Austin. I've been lurking around here ever since I joined Reddit (~8 years), mostly reading but I posted once or twice on other accounts. I'm from the US, and I'm excited to try and post something here every day for the first two months of the new year. I've always wanted to be more serious about writing fiction, so here I am.

Good luck Austin. It's a really big goal to pull off, but if you make it you'll have like 50k words under your belt before spring. Hopefully I'll catch a prompt or two from you.

That's a great writing goal! I've been mostly doing that for a while and it has felt like such good practice.

Hey all, I'm fairly regularly on WP and on the discord. I can usually be found trying to tell stories that are fun, but this year I am going to try my hand at some horror and more serious stories as well.

I am trying to work on my prose and my ability to manage long scenes of dialogue in 2021. I think I have decent ideas, and I seem to have found a style that works for me, but I have a long way to go. I think the last year of actually trying to improve just showed me how far I have to develop.

What I'm looking forward to in 2021 is being able to just be in places with a buzz. The last few months I've missed my family and friends obviously, but I've also really missed hearing other people have fun, and share experiences. So fingers crossed the vaccine does its thing and some part of normal can come back.

Good luck to you all in the new year.

Yeah, hopefully things return to normal sooner rather than later!

Hi! I'm Solidsecondplace I'm from the midwest U.S.A.. I've been on reddit 1 year 5 months. And it turns out Writing_prompts got me back into writing again.

I finally made a subreddit r/Secondhand_Stories to show work and get anyone who wants to try weird stuff to have a place to explore prompts that didn't get attention the first time. Maybe just swap and share cool story ideas if you want.

Only been writing again for 5 months. (Last time previous was decades ago!) But I really like the ideas of building new worlds.

This year we are gonna change the world and bring others into our new ones! Happy 2021!

I welcome advice and dispense encouragement. Because writers and builders give us all access to new worlds. Take me on your voyages of wonder!

Like everyone I'm excited that it's not 2020 anymore. XD

I suppose I'm also excited to get into some new stuff and work doing better this year than last. I've got some good resolutions (a few include writing and editing what I HOPE to be my first published book *ever*) and we'll see how well I do.

Welcome to all the new people

I’m excited to follow up on last year, and prove it want a fluke, or something that only happens once every x years. I had a collection of flash fiction published that was originally a bonus book/stretch goal in a kickstarter for a different book. Meanwhile, a story that was rejected by one anthology made it to the final final of another before before rejected. And another got good enough feedback that he thought it was sale-able elsewhere but wasn’t what he was looking for — however, I was allowed to submit a second story in the remaining days. (That didn’t make it,)

Basically, a lot of the rejection was a little more personal than usual, and I need to take their response to heart. And maybe not shift POV so much when writing third-person. I have to work on that.

Hey everyone! My name is Stephen and I live in Seattle, WA. I just moved here from Ireland two years ago with my wife, and now we have a little girl and another baby on the way!

For 2021 I want to try and write more consistently, and I am soon going to post two longer multi-part stories that are ~80% written to my subreddit at r/HouseBlendMedium. One spins off a recent prompt, and one is more prompt-inspired from a prompt a while back.

I also have a book on Amazon called M-World, a YA sci-fi adventure. You can see it here. No need to buy it if you're a WPer though - just shoot me a DM with your email address and I'll send you the PDF!

I love WP because it's such an easy outlet for creative energy. I find that with work and other non-writing stuff I don't post for a while and then the pressure build and builds and BLAMMO! I end up writing a bunch of stuff, and it feels great. There are some seriously talented writers here, and every day I see something I wish I 'd written.

Happy 2021 to everyone! One assumes that after 2020, the only way is up. Hopefully. Surely. Right?

Writing Prompts. You're a writer and you just want to flex those muscles? You've come to the right place! If you see a prompt you like, simply write a short story based on it. Get comments from others, and leave commentary for other people's works. Let's help each other.
