This is more of a feature request, now that I discovered the source of the problem when asked in the bug reporting template what version of GitHub Extension for Visual Studio that I was using.

It would be great if Visual Studio actually checked for minimum requirements, and prompted the user with a warning that an extension upgrade is needed, rather than just displaying an unintuitive error to the screen.

Here are the details of what I saw:

Versions

  • GitHub Extension for Visual Studio version: 2.11.102.28613
  • Visual Studio version:

Steps to Reproduce

Open Project. (in my case VerilogLanguageExtension)
Navigate to GitHub tab.
