Tv Season Info

The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation's paranoia.

Critic Reviews for The Boys Season 2

All Critics (58) | Top Critics (8)

Season two proves that if the series is going to be so bloated and only sporadically punchy, it's never going to be as powerful as it thinks it is.

A wonderfully subversive, cynically entertaining piece of work.

Highly entertaining but grossly flawed, The Boys envisions itself as the bad boy of superhero stories. To a degree, it is. But let's not act as if it's the long-awaited mash-up of Shakespeare and Stan Lee.

For everyone willing to jump on board with that mentality, though, The Boys has one of the most bracing, uncomfortable, and piercing points of view currently on TV.

This series manages not only to be exciting and unpredictable, but to examine the perils of hero worship in a manner that's mind-blowing in more ways than one, and incidentally, absolutely not for the squeamish.

Regardless, no matter how little was achieved in the first episode, it's still a blast having The Boys back.

When fans of "Watchmen" and "Umbrella Academy" can say, "did you see what happened in that episode? It was so nuts". "The Boys" fans just shake their heads, saying, "you're adorable."

Sep 4, 2020 | Rating: 4.5/5 | Full Review…

The social and political ramifications of a super-powered world have been addressed in shows like HBO's excellent "Watchmen," but "The Boys" might corner the market in how it walks the fine line between spoof and hard-hitting, gritty revelation.

'The Boys' creator and co-writer Eric Kripke doesn't shy away from taking big decisions and introducing irreversible plot twists. This makes the show refreshingly unpredictable.

The second season of the Karl Urban-led The Boys is leaps and bounds above its predecessor.

Sep 4, 2020 | Full Review…

It works as well as ever as a skewering critique of capitalism, and also a raucously good time.

Sep 4, 2020 | Full Review…

Showrunner Eric Kripke understands how to world-build while simultaneously developing characters and it makes for an incredibly realistic take in a genre that doesn't often take risks.

This show is a fucking masterpiece and should be 100% Fresh 🖕supes 🖕

Only three episodes but it's clear this season won't be nearly as good as the first. Lots of bloat, plot points that don't fit the narrative, and lack of any new character motivations are giving me little incentive to continue now that it's drawn out even further with weekly episodes.

Its over the top violent this season but unlike anything else on TV. Bad good guys. Isn't that reality.

Fantastic show, hasn't lost its edge or comedy from season 1, not happy about episodes 4 onwards released weekly though

Masterpiece! It made me want to watch the first season all over again just to get me through while I wait for the next episodes!

Great show, interesting twist on the super genre, fantastic actors, fun and light in places as well as dark and gritty in others, watch it people.

Season 1 loved Season 2 only put out 3 episodes and already trash. wow how the hell do you make characters and fail to understand how they would naturally fight? the brother of Kimiko would have never died fighting stormfront. he would have literally just crushed her bones like he did the can, twist her body snapping her in half and so much more. NO Reason!!! he had to tackle her. horrible fighting, horrible writing. next time bring in comic fans to actually explain to you how powers and people with them would truly use them. and why is it pretty much every person with powers has superhuman strength besides Kimiko brother? literally makes no sense. just for the people at amazon who suffer from having half a brain, do some research on powers and how the people with those powers fight with them. this show had potential but has become crap. i refuse to finishing watching this show. cant believe i waited this long just so they could ruin it for me. might as well add barney the purple dinosaur in this show because thats how much of a joke its become.

Butcher is so annoying... his only move is cursing and 50 caliber. Everyone in 7 is more interesting.

Jaw-dropping, terrific and bloody hell - it let us to see how shameful and hypocrite the world, including us as the audience as the media can take anything sadness or rage if their heroes did something wrong - THE BOYS express us not to cover the trueself by wear yourself a mask or humiliating someone that true love you. But THE BOYS also indicates another truth is, NOBODY LIKES THE TRUTH. Not everyone are gonna accept you with your ugly, real truth especially if u are influences. We always ask a question, why the actors, singers, youtubers would rather to wearing a mask but not being your truth self? Not because they don't know, but because they knew and they knew the consequences. This is reality, and the reality is as cold as we can't imagine.

Might as well subscribe to hbo max if they're not going to release all the episodes. Bad form.
