Here's the rough, MIT-licensed code that seeded the initiative https://github.com/mus-nature-ca/museum-tracker …. It's a multistep process that makes use of Google Scholar alert email messages, Google's gmail API, a config'd regex for specimen codes
@unpaywall, and then a basic, flat HTML output.Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -

The Canadian Museum of Nature Research Review is now available. This is a great way to demonstrate the importance, use and reach of museum collections. All museums should publish one! https://nature.ca/en/about-us/museum-corporation/annual-reports-corporate-publications/research-review …

This afternoon: curating the UT collection’s leaf-mining flies. Turns out we have a pretty amazing collection of well-prepared specimens from TX and WI, complete with expert IDs and genital dissections.pic.twitter.com/2Ry8thAKiu

Very cool paper showing how anti-bat ultrasound production by moths can be determined by tymbal morphology. Another reason why museum collections are important. Kudos to

Yep, require more people, money; to get the work done. 10 million beetles...so little time. Here’s one drawer. To catalogue and recurate takes a day or more of dedicated time.

Our specimen of the day is the December moth (Poecilocampa populi). This moth cannot feed, but can can survive winter by expelling water from their system to prevent their insides from freezing.
