    We used argue about spaces vs tabs and single or double quotes and semi or no semi and trailing or no trailing comma. took away all of the issues so we had to find something.

    . is one of the best things to have happened in frontend recently. I take it for granted most of the times, but I could hardly work without it today, saves me hours every week, and lots of headaches in my team.

    All the arguments here sound exactly like what you’d hear from people debating formatting before . Someone please make the file tree irrelevant with better tooling so we can all see how much time we’ve wasted on it

    I'd bet this is also true for codebases. Don't waste your time on file structure, use an editor with a good fuzzy search and move on.

    This was fixed by , which should be part of the next version of Prettier (targeting January IIRC). In the meantime, `npm install prettier/prettier` or `yarn add prettier/prettier` to switch to the master-branch version of Prettier, which includes the fix.

    Wow, I just found out can format markdown files, run it over all my blog posts and it formatted all my code snippets to my prefer JavaScript and LESS preferences 🤯 I'm giving these folks money, like right now.

    Created a small tool to setup and pre-commit hooks in a project (because I got tired of adding it manually for each project): . Just run "npx prettier-please" inside the root of your project.

    I wrote a blog post about my VS Code configuration as I wanted to have it as a quick reference for new projects. It happened often to me, to look for things like how to setup & which setting is required to trigger it in etc.

    Someone commented in that article (and I agree) that just like everyone should know how to do multiplication, everyone should know how to format code. But manually correcting indentation is not value-adding. helps consistency, readability, and maintainability.
