After earning her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in 2014, Maria joined the Electrical Engineering Advising office team as a Student Services Coordinator, Associate. For two years, she was the first point of contact for a diverse student population as they progressed through their academic career. She also managed the advising front desk operations, supervised the front desk student staff, and served as direct support to the undergraduate academic advising team. In 2016, she became an Academic Success Specialist. She is thankful for the opportunity to work with students. In her spare time she enjoys shopping at local farmer’s markets, spoiling her three young nephews, and practicing yoga.

Joelina is the Assistant Director, Research Advancement for the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering. Her primary responsibility is to assist faculty and researchers in the development, preparation, and submission of sponsored project proposals to various federal and non-federal agencies as well as provide analytical and financial oversight of sponsored awards. She serves as a consultant to management on policies, plans and objectives. She interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters. She represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult and technical issues associated with sponsored projects. She interacts with faculty and staff across the six schools of Engineering to provide support and effective management of sponsored projects.
Joelina received her Certification in Research Administration (CRA) in 2009 from the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC). Joelina has been in the research administration field for 13 years. She joined ASU in 1999 and left for a brief period in 2010 to work as the Manager of the Sponsored Research Office for a non-profit Medical Research Institute in California. She recently returned to ASU in 2014.

He originally studied English Education and served as a classroom teacher for two years before making the switch to serve post-secondary students. He is the proud father of a nine-month old baby boy, which is where most of his time and energy goes. Tom does a little community service with the Valley Alano club in Tempe and with the Gilbert “Friends for Life” Animal Rescue. He is an avid reader and active in an online community (Goodreads) where he does an annual reading challenge and shares book reviews. Melissa earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education from ASU, as well as a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. After completing her undergrad in 2009, she went on to teach elementary school for 4 years in Gilbert, AZ. In 2014, Melissa began her career in higher education, working as an academic counselor for both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a variety of disciplines. After completing her MBA in 2016, Melissa came to ECEE to advise undergraduate students. Melissa is very experienced with engineering, for she has several relatives making impressive contributions across multiple disciplines, including Electrical Engineering. In her free time, Melissa enjoys traveling, kickboxing, movies and outdoor activities with her puppy.
