At 3rd September of 1990, George Michael released his second album "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1". The album produced five hit singles, all of which were released in quick succession, within an eight-month period. These were "Praying for Time" (which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, his final number one hit as a solo artist), "Waiting for That Day", "Cowboys and Angels", "Freedom", and "Heal the Pain". The album won the Best British Album award at the 1991 BRIT Awards.
Born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou to a Greek Cypriot father and a British mother, George grew up in suburban Hertfordshire. He attended the Bushey Meads School where he became best friends with Andrew Ridgeley. They formed their first band whilst still at school, the short-lived The Executive. Following that they created Wham! in 1981.
The commercial success of his band Wham! was so immense in the first half of the 1980s, that anyone who does not love or hate, or even feel total indifference to, their music, is unlikely to know much about Pop music of that period.
The last singles of Wham! and the earliest material of Michael´s solo career were distinct enough to show the way Michael´s musical career was developing. His lyrics were not only a cut above average, but emotionally powerful enough to obscure his change in image and even his own changing life experiences; which are also part & parcel of his first solo album, the excellent 'Faith'.
George Michael's follow-up to the massive success of 'Faith' found him turning inward, trying to gain critical acclaim as well as sales. 'Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1' was the start of George's dispute with record label Sony. He claimed that the album's poor sales were due to Sony's poor marketing. In 1993, George entered into a court case with Sony over his record contract, which cost him millions and which he eventually lost.
While it spawned huge songs like “Freedom ’90” and “Praying For Time,” it didn’t sell the way 'Faith', its predecessor, did. But it was evidently a special album to Michael. And before he died, Michael was working on both a big reissue of the album and a documentary about it. 'Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1' was the release that settled George Michael´s rightful place in musical history.

At 2nd September of 1990, the teen series "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" premiered on FOX. "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" is an American teen sitcom that originally aired on FOX from September 1990 to June 1993. During the last season, the series sported the simpler title "Parker Lewis". It was one of the first shows with fan support on the Internet. It was done through an email list called The Flamingo Digest. Several people from the list were invited to the set. Several sitcoms that debuted in the beginning of the 21st century, such as "Malcolm in the Middle", "Ally McBeal", and "Scrubs", were strongly influenced by "Parker Lewis Can't Lose".
Like its contemporary on Nickelodeon, "Clarissa Explains It All", Fox's early hit "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" was a show featuring a teenage protagonist sporting an attitude of mastery of one's environment. However, hidden in within the plot lines was a hint of the insecurity that all teens face.
Parker (Corin Nemec) spends his time with his two best buds, wannabe rocker Mikey (Billy Jayne) and dorky Freshman Jerry (Troy Slaten), whose hero worship of the older guys is extreme enough that he refers to them as "Sir." The bane to this trio ? Principal Grace Musso (Melanie Chartoff), a Cruella de Vil type, always accompanied by her student toady, Frank (Taj Johnson).
Others of note at Parker's school are his petite but fierce little sister Shelly (Maia Brewton) and the anything but petite Larry Kubiac (Abraham Benrubi), a (mostly) gentle giant of a student, who's been known to repeat a grade or two or three.
Parker Lewis brought a touch of surrealism to TV in a big way and in doing so, paved the way for other shows that owe a lot of debt to some of the stylistic touchstones this series first used in this medium. There are a lot of moments in Parker Lewis that evoke ones we'd see in more recent years on shows like "Malcolm in the Middle" and "Scrubs" and it even pre-dated another underrated, surreal 90's gem, Nickelodeon's "The Adventures of Pete & Pete".
The storylines and situations the characters find themselves in are funny and clever, and the cast does a great job of grounding the bizarre scenarios. Nemec, Jayne and Slaten quickly form a likeable, relatable core trio, while Chartoff and Johnson are terrific as Musso and Frank. Barely in her teens when she began the show, Brewton (Adventures in Babysitting) is a firecracker as Shelly, while Benrubi has just the right man-child tone to sell that Kubiac is the kind of guy who would actually ask, big smile on his face, "Eat now?!"
It's been nearly thirty years, but it's still easy to appreciate this series and the originality it brought to television screens. Hearing Parker make some of his go-to proclamations, such as "Coolness", "Not a problem" and "Synchronize Swatches" is as fun in 2017 as it was in 1990.

At 2nd September of 1981, Prince released his hit single "Controversy". The lead single and title track to his 1981 album, it is one of his most respected classic funk songs. "Controversy" addresses certain speculation about Prince at the time such as his sexuality, gender, religion, and racial background, and how he could not understand the curiosity surrounding him.
Prince Rogers Nelson first became fascinated with music at the age of six, when he saw his father’s three-piece jazz band perform. Everything about it seemed amazing: the sounds that came out of his father’s piano; the chorus girls that came out dancing at Nelson Sr.’s command; the emotive power the whole thing had over the people in the audience. Prince became obsessed with music as an outlet for his innermost feelings. In the 80's, those feelings seemed to fall perfectly in tune with the zeitgeist.
With the release of his debut, 'For You', Prince began a ten-year run of albums on which he continued to push himself and his art further and further. In a decade widely remembered for its selfishness and soullessness, Prince redefined the concept of “soulful” music.
Taking his lead from the flag-bearers of funk: Sly Stone, James Brown, and George Clinton, and artistic pioneers such as Miles Davis and Joni Mitchell, Prince imbued his art with his idiosyncratic view of life, turning out music from the mind of a sex-obsessed deviant ("Dirty Mind"); a bomb-fearing party-animal (“1999”); a God-fearing man searching for a ways to reconcile the spiritual with the sexual ("Lovesexy"); and so much more.
Although it often escapes into obscurity sandwiched between the legendary 'Dirty Mind' and '1999', 'Controversy' is an astounding album in its own right. After finding a new niche with unpolished funk/rock hybrids on 'Dirty Mind', Prince expands upon this template on 'Controversy.'
Prince's funk rarely if ever hit harder than it did on the title track, which is in some ways the ultimate embodiment of everything his music stood for. "Controversy" is also, of course, just a flat-out fantastic song and one of his very best. The tracks that follow: "Sexuality", "Do Me Baby", and "Private Joy" are all ace too.
Prince may not have reached his peak at this point, but on 'Controversy', Prince displays not only unlimited potential, but some undeniable classics. As a transitional record, it is an oddball among Prince releases, but one that ages well and features some of his most telling material.

At 3rd September of 1984, “All Through The Night” from Cyndi Lauper was released. Included on her debut LP "She's So Unusual", "All Through The Night" peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Lauper's fourth top five single in the U.S. Lauper became the first woman in the 26-year history of Billboard to take four singles from the same album to Top 5 on the Hot 100.
This song was written by Jules Shear, who also wrote the Bangles hit "If She Knew What She Wants." He penned the song in England whilst accompanying his wife Pal Shazar, who was playing some gigs with her group Slow Children. Jules recorded the original version of the song for his first solo album, Watch Dog, which was produced by Todd Rundgren.
Cyndi Lauper was known for her hit "Girls Just Want To Have Fun," which had a quirky video that did very well on MTV. Part of Lauper's appeal was her look and style. She made sure she stood out, with flaming red hair, a mashup of thrift-store close and a Betty Boop voice. Largely, her debut She's So Unusual has weathered the years and earned quite a bit more respect than it originally garnered.
Seven singles were released from the album, with "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" becoming a worldwide hit and her first song to chart on the Billboard. "Time After Time" became her first number-one hit on the chart and experienced similar success worldwide. She found success with the next two singles as well, with both "She Bop" and "All Through the Night" peaking in the top five.
Behind She's So Unusual, Cyndi Lauper became a pop superstar. The singles went on to become classics of the era and have been played by the bucketload to this very day. Nonetheless, her debut album is more than a worthy candidate for such commercial canonization. Unfortunately, Cyndi was unable to maintain this level of success, but She's So Unusual reaches such heights that her legacy as an 80's icon is secure.

At 2nd September of 1995, Michael Jackson went to No.1 on the US singles chart with a song written by R. Kelly 'You Are Not Alone'. It holds a Guinness World Record as the first song in the 37 year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to debut at No.1.
After his meteoric rise to the most popular artist in the world in 1982 with 'Thriller', Michael Jackson had gone from strength to strength releasing 'Bad' in 1987 and then 'Dangerous' in 1991, each of which offered something new and became some of the popular albums of all time.
'HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I' was initially conceived as a definitive greatest hits collection, however, since Michael had already written a reasonable amount of songs he decided to make it a double album, the first disc for his greatest hits and the second as his new album. Perhaps he felt his new material would need some help if it was to sell the 30 odd million that 'Dangerous' had.
So in the Summer of 1995, working again with Teddy Riley, Michael released perhaps the most crucial album to affirm his continuation as the unrivalled 'King Of Pop'. Six singles were released from 'HIStory': "Scream"/"Childhood", "Earth Song", "This Time Around", "They Don't Care About Us", "Stranger in Moscow" and "You Are Not Alone".
Michael Jackson asked R. Kelly's manager if Kelly would write a song for him after hearing his hit record "Bump And Grind." R Kelly went straight into the studio and came up with this song. Michael Jackson then joined R. Kelly in Chicago to record the track and asked Kelly to provide backing vocals.
Commercially, the song was a significant success. It holds a Guinness World Record as the first song in the 37-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 to debut at number one; it was later certified platinum by the RIAA. The song peaked highly in all major markets. "You Are Not Alone" was Michael Jackson's last number one hit song in the United States during his lifetime.
R. Kelly paid tribute to Michael after his passing by recording his own version of this song as a bonus track on his 2010 album, 'Love Letter.' A clip of the song was remixed and released in 2011, as a song with "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", on the 'Immortal' album.

At 2nd September of 1996, the children's television program, "Arthur" premiered on PBS. The show is set in the fictional American city of Elwood City, and revolves around the lives of 8-year-old Arthur Read, an anthropomorphic aardvark, his friends and family, and their daily interactions with each other. "Arthur" became one of the highest-rated shows on PBS Kids for several years since its debut, averaging almost 10 million viewers weekly in the U.S. It is aired in a total of 83 countries; PBS in the United States, Radio-Canada, Knowledge, TVO, and CBC in Canada, several ABC channels in Australia, and BBC One/CBBC in the UK. Although "Arthur" is directed primarily toward a child and preteen audience, over the years it has gained a substantial cult following among older viewers.
Developed from Marc Brown's beloved books, Arthur reminds us all of how it feels to be 8 years old. Just like your average kid, Arthur overcomes the dreaded obstacles of third-grade life, such as his tough teacher Mr. Ratburn, bullies, and mountains of homework. At home, Arthur must face the pint- terror also known as his sister Dora Winifred, or D.W. for short.
Everything between these two is a struggle; who gets control of the television remote, who can play their Crazy Bus CD, whose hobbies are dumber, that's a baby show...Will Arthur ever win one of these pointless arguments ? Probably never, because not only is D.W. fiercely independent, she's also very smart. But despite it all, Arthur and D.W. are still brother and sister, and when they're not arguing, they can accomplish great things together.
Keeping Arthur sane are his helpful friends; an assortment of colorful animal cohorts who always provide sound advice and a few laughs too. They are: Francine Frensky (a tomboy who would rather play sports than go to the mall), Buster Baxter (an enthusiastic gourmand), Alan "The Brain" Powers (a bona-fide 3rd grade genius, who even writes computer programs in his spare time), Muffy Crosswire (the rich girl with a real heart of gold), and Sue Ellen Armstrong (a traveler of the world and geography expert).
Arthur can also sometimes be seen with Fern Walters (a soft-spoken musician with semi-hidden goth interests), Binky Barnes (acts like a bully, but enjoys pastimes such as ballet and clarinet), George Nordgren/Lundgren (a somewhat shy moose who be truly entertaining when he tries), Prunella (who supposedly has psychic powers and is actually in the fourth grade) and Jenna Morgan (a rarely seen cat-girl.) And of course, who could forget Pal, Arthur's lovable, loyal pet pooch ?
The show deals with a large variety of situations that could easily happen to everyday people. The lessons go on to cover a variety of topics, including health issues, environmental issues, bullying, and other social issues. The show has earned 17 Daytime Emmy Awards since it’s debut in 1996. Since its debut, the show has broadcast 229 thirty-minute-long episodes. With 229 episodes, "Arthur" is the second-longest active running show on PBS Kids, behind only "Sesame Street". It is the longest running children's animated television series.
Many celebrity guest stars have appeared on the show, each providing the voice for their anthropomorphic animal counterpart, excluding Joan Rivers, who played as Francine's maternal grandmother. Lance Armstrong and Joan Rivers are the only guest stars to make more than one appearance on the series.
While it is best for parents or caregivers to try to watch this or any other show with their children, this show does a good job of explaining things in a way that most children can understand. Even older children and adults will often enjoy this educational television show. It is well done, and teaches many important lessons.

Keanu Charles Reeves, a Canadian actor known for his nobility in the Hollywood film industry, is a humble and down to earth actor who does not shy away from sharing his success with the co-actors and the crew of his movies.
The gentle actor famously gave away most of his earnings from the blockbuster trilogy ‘The Matrix’ to the special effects and costume designer team of the movie because he felt that they were the real heroes of the movie. He also gave away the opportunity to earn millions just so his production team could afford ace actors for his movies like Al Pacino for ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ and Gene Hackman for ‘The Replacement’.
Keanu Reeves was born on 2 September 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon. Reeves had an emotionally instable childhood because his father left him and his mother when he was only 3 years old and his mother went on to marry three more times after that. He travelled along with his mother to Sydney, New York and Toronto before he decided to leave for LA for good to start his acting career at the age of 15.
In 1979, when Reeves was only 15, he acted at the Leah Posluns Theatre in the stage production of ‘Romeo and Juliet’. After that he did his debut on TV with CBC Television’s sitcom ‘Hangin’In’. In 1980s, he did commercials for big brands like Coca-Cola, short films like ‘One Step Away’, stage productions like ‘Wolfboy’, etc.
In 1986, Reeves did his first drama film ‘River’s Edge’, the movie showed a group of teenagers affected by a murder. After the success of this movie, Reeves got noticed and was offered more and more roles in the movies appropriate for his age, like: ‘Permanent Record’. In 1989, he played the role of ‘Ted Logan’ in the movie ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ and in 1991 its sequel ‘Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey’ came out. These movies did a lot of good to Reeves’ career but also stereotyped him into a ‘troubled teen’. The media started to describe him as an idealist teen.
Since then Reeves has given many blockbuster hits like: ‘The Matrix’. The Matrix Reloded’, ‘The Matrix Revolutions’, ‘The Devil’s Advocate’, ‘Speed’, ‘Constantine’, etc. He is a recluse and tries to stay away from the media and enjoys ballroom dancing and surfing more than anything. He has faced many tragedies in his life like the birth of his still born daughter ‘Ava’, death of his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Syme and the death of his dear friend and actor River Phoenix. His acting has garnered several awards, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
When the Wachowskis released "The Matrix" in 1999, it marked the dawn of a new age for the science fiction and action genres with the numerous technical and aesthetic innovations it contributed to the film industry. These would go on to earn it the widespread recognition of being one of the most important films of its generation, as well as quite arguably one of the greatest sci-fi films of its generation.
At the time, few could have anticipated that such an edgy, high concept, and quasi-religious film would achieve the blockbuster success in which it did. Most assuredly technological advances in graphics, such as the "bullet time" technique developed specifically for the film, and an innovated aesthetic to the complexity of choreographed fight sequences, are factors contributing to its earned acclaim.
Writing and fantastic direction had to be accompanied by a formidable cast that is not what is missing in this movie. Keanu Reeves is superb and becomes the "chosen one"; the fantastic Laurence Fishburne as the unforgettable Morpheus; and one of the greatest villains that cinema ever had it's Hugo Weaving as the cruel Agent Smith. A classic action and sci-fi that will be forever remembered, thanks to a fantastic writing and breathtaking action scenes make's "The Matrix" a true masterpiece.
