It's for everyone!    July 21, 1997, Ky & Jodi Michaelson with team members John Johnston and Rick Loher launched their amateur space rocket at Black Rock Nevada. Unfortunately the second stage of the rocket failed to ignite and the team's goal of being the first amateur rocket into space was not successful due to an electronics failure.    The CSXT was powered by a John Johnston and Rick Loher P-11,500 to an N-1,700. This rocket was predicted to exceed 50 miles. The booster was successfully recovered with it's electronics intact by a ROCKETMAN ballistic chute. The data was analyzed and the booster was traveling in excess of 1,900 miles per hour at burn out and reached an altitude of over 50,000 feet. This flight can be seen on the ROCKETMAN High Thrust "Balls 007 video tape. The CSXT crew is preparing another rocket for the 1998 season.
