Celebrating 50 Years of News
• Several of CTV and ‘A’ stations began their long history of producing local news in the mid-1950s.
• CTVglobemedia heritage stations include CTV Edmonton (1954), CTV Regina (1954), CTV Saskatoon (1954), CTV Southwestern Ontario (1953), CTV Northern Ontario ( 1955, ATV (1954), ‘A’ Barrie (1955), ‘A’ London (1953), ‘A’ Wingham (1955) and CKX Brandon (1955).
• Now, more than 50 years later, CTV and ‘A’ produces close to 15,000 hours of local news each year. In addition to its award-winning daily news coverage, CTV and ‘A’ anchors and reporters actively support more than 4,000 community and charitable events that help to generate millions of dollars for worthwhile local causes.
