On Tuesday, 29 September 2009, I led a Malaysian delegation comprising senior officials from my ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MOSTI, MITI, NRE, MPIC, SIRIM and agencies under the ministry as well as GBI and had a very useful dialogue session with EU Heads of Missions and Ambassadors on Green Technology and its scope of co-operation with the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water held at Pullman Lakeside, Putrajaya.
The EU delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Vincent Piket, Ambassador – Head of EU Mission, Delegation of the European Commission, jointly with H.E. Helena Sangeland, Ambassador of Sweden to Malaysia, (Sweden is the current President of the EU), and 16 Ambassadors of EU Member States in Malaysia.
I was very delighted with the full attendance of all HE Ambassadors of the EU Nations.
What struck me most was the wide scope and variety of the exchanges from both sides.
Certainly there will be no shortage in areas of joint projects or collaborations for future in areas such as policy, legal and regulatory frameworks, capacity building, joint project initiatives and R&D.
The chosen project proposals will be further deliberated at the working level for implementation.
Both Malaysia and the EU Nations agreed in principal to engage in such dialogue on an annual basis.
I hope this positive start will translate into exciting projects with the environment in mind.
No doubt there are much to be done.
