by Sonja Grussendorf - Thursday, 26 October 2006, 04:50 PM

Attention all students! Before you email celt or send a message to one of us, please note the following!

Cant get into your email? Cant login to learn.gold? Sounds like youre having problems with your username and/ or password. Please note that any queries relating to your goldsmiths username and password should be directed to the helpdesk.

After youve checked that you didnt accidentally turn CAPSLOCK on, and after making sure you typed your username and password absolutely right, go to the helpdesk in the library:

RISB 1st floor x7555 helpdesk@gold.ac.uk

For more information: http://www.goldsmiths.ac.uk/cs/handbook/helpdesk.php

Unfortunately CELT can not provide any help with username or password problems or queries.
Only contact us if you are absolutely sure that your problem has to do with learn.gold - and do please check out the FAQ section here: how to get started.

Thanks!

New options for storing your web links

Working on an assignment, project or presentation often involves collecting and sharing web links. Using a web browser to record these as Bookmarks or Favourites can make things difficult when moving between different computers at home and college. Sharing links with others can also be time-consuming.

Support with using learn.gold

There are many ways to get information and advice, several of which are available from Moodle - the online learning environment we call learn.gold.

Manuals
are available for tutor and student users (along with other documentation on the Moodle Documentation page).

For specific questions, first have a look to see if yours is covered by our Guides for Staff, (accessed from the learn.gold Main Menu, top left on the front page) and let us know if it isn't. Otherwise, talk to a colleague you know has experience using that particular feature. You can also participate in a very supportive community of international users on the Moodle Community Forums - there's a general discussion forum as well as forums for each individual learn.gold feature.

And it goes without saying that you can always contact CELT with your questions at celt@gold.ac.uk.

We always appreciate feedback on your experiences with learn.gold support.

Mira

Goldsmiths College Virtual Learning Environment

Welcome to Goldsmiths College's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

A VLE is a web-based software system that supports learning and teaching - it can range from making online resources available (such as reading material, timetables, weblinks, animations) or facilitating the easy creation of formative assessment activities, enabling online discussions, allowing online essay submission and more.

Login using your normal Goldsmiths College Username and Password. For assistance and information, email celt@gold.ac.uk.

Your College Email

YOUR COLLEGE EMAIL ACCOUNT

In general, according to college email policy, we insist that you retain and use your college email when communicating with departments, your teachers etc. In learn.gold, too, we urge you not to change that address in your profile. We need to authenticate that you are a genuine member of this college. Also, if you mistype the replacement email address, messages sent to it get bounced back and overload the server.
It is in any case a good idea that you keep and USE your college email, as departmental messages are only sent to that address and you may miss out on vital information.
