Take-Two Takes TalonSoft
Maryland-based wargaming house acquired in stock swap.
Shortly before the holiday break, Take-Two Interactive announced that it had completed its acquisition of TalonSoft.
Founded in 1995, TalonSoft is a Maryland based wargamer focused primarily on wargames and strategy titles. Among the fifteen games it has published to date are East Front, West Front, The Operational Art of War, and a veritable stream of games in the Battleground series. TalonSoft was privately held by its two founders, John Davidson and Jim Rose.
"We are delighted to be part of the Take-Two family," said Jim Rose, president of TalonSoft. "Take-Two's strong worldwide distribution will broaden the reach of our award-winning products and allow us to focus on what we do best, which is make great games." Recently, TalonSoft signed noted wargame designers Gary Grigsby and Neil Bohrs to a three-title deal.
Take-Two's acquisition was paid for in Take-Two stock, and will be accounted for as a pooling of interests. New York-based Take-Two said the move gives them a broader product range both domestically and abroad.
