Iceland 2011 - Jökulhlaup Mýrdalsjökull

On 9th of July 2011 the volcano Katla (also named as "monster") caused a glacier run through the river Mulakvisl in the Mýrdalssandur.

A bridge over the river was completely destroyed. So the main road of Iceland, the ring road was interrupted. But a temporary bridge was build within less than two weeks.

So this place has been a point of interest for the most of tourists and inhabitants, too.
