As a 41 year-old software developer do you know how many times I've had to manually implement QuickSort?
Zero.
Maybe we should test for more useful skills like taking a slow SQL query and optimizing it.
Remember back when we all read Clean Code and then to do one thing we wrote 25 small functions across several files instead of one 20-line function that you could look at and say "I know exactly what this function is doing"
If I plateau at Senior Software Engineer is that okay?
I’ve turned down Lead. I don’t want to deal with people more. I’m bad at it. I want to write code. Mentor a bit.
What’s wrong with that?
So I banned myself from video games for a full month so I’d focus more on working, coding, and just boosting my skills. However now that I’ve done so much I can game again but.. I don’t want to yet. What is wrong with me?! 😩
