- Aluminum Christmas Trees: Medical variants.
- The web comic's author admits that they have no true medical knowledge and thus aren't sure if some of the medical advice/procedures shown are correct. However, some of the medical decisions the characters make are actually right. For example, Leonardo has a concussion for the first twenty-four hours after the invasion. Donatello makes sure Leo stays awake until he can get a medical scan. During that time, Leo is able to keep up a conversation, is aware of his surroundings, and isn't having memory issues. Thus, Casey decides it's safe for Leo to sleep. Medical practitioners advise that a patient who's received head trauma/a possible concussion not sleep until they've seen a doctor, allowing them to check for any severe damage. However, if the patient is able to continue a conversation and doesn't seem to be having any severe problems, then most doctors will deem it safe for them to sleep.note
- Leonardo reacting in pain while asleep is also surprisingly accurate. While painkillers (like what Casey Jr. gave Leo) cut off the brain's conscious reaction to pain, they don't turn off the body's response to pain. For example, anesthetized patients undergoing surgery will still tremble, have elevated heart rates, or have some reaction to the operation being performed (which is why anesthesiologists have to carefully watch the patient the whole time). While Leo grunting/groaning in his sleep while Casey fixes his shell isn't a typical reaction to pain under anesthesia, it's still surprisingly realistic.
