The Bad Guys in - Maraschino Ruby is a 2022 animated comedy short film directed by The Bad Guys (2022) head of story Nelson Yokota, and serves as the follow-up set after the film. The short features the original cast of Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Awkwafina, Craig Robinson, and Anthony Ramos.
Chief Luggins sets a trap for the Bad Guys, but they were already caught and in custody for another crime; stealing a push pop... allegedly.
It was released as a bonus feature on the home releases of The Bad Guys on June 21, 2022.

- Bait-and-Switch: It initially looks like the Bad Guys are stealing the titular ruby and Chief Luggins catches them, but it turns out to just be another officer checking on the display.
- Department of Redundancy Department: A newspaper quote from Chief Luggins calls the Bad Guys "STUPID, LAME and STUPID".
- Lampshaded by both Mr. Wolf and Snake while discussing a newspaper article on the Maraschino Ruby.Mr. Wolf: Look what the chief said about us! "The Ruby safe from those STUPID, LAME and STUPID Bad Guys"?
Mr. Snake: Whoa, two stupids? Okay, I'm in! - Then it's revealed the Chief invoked it as part of her plan to trap the Bad Guys.Chief Luggins Aha! Gotcha! I knew you couldn't resist after calling you stupid twice!
- Lampshaded by both Mr. Wolf and Snake while discussing a newspaper article on the Maraschino Ruby.
- Didn't Think This Through: The entire charade the Chief tries to pull off fails and ultimately causes her more trouble than it does the Bad Guys since, as a disguised Mr. Shark points out, her attempt to try and bait them into committing a crime so that she could catch them in the act is a textbook example of entrapment and nearly gets her arrested before the Bad Guys get her to rescind her earlier news article.Officer: It’s true. Sorry. Major legal infraction.
- I Know You Know I Know: The Bad Guys don't fall for the Chief's ploy with the fake ruby, instead they pull one over on her by stealing the real ruby from her pocket and returning it to the museum.
- Impersonating a Lawyer: Mr. Shark disguises himself as "Jude Lawson", the Bad Guys' lawyer after they get arrested.
- Mineral MacGuffin: The plot centers around the titular Maraschino Ruby.
- Replaced with Replica: Chief Luggins' trap to catch the Bad Guys in the act involves baiting them with a fake Maraschino Ruby made of candy. She keeps the real one with her.
- Sequencing Deception: The first scene montages through Bad Guys pulling off a museum heist to steal the Maraschino Ruby... only for the ending to reveal they're actually returning the real ruby to the museum.
- Simple Country Lawyer: Part of Mr. Shark's act while pretending to be the Bad Guys' attorney, complete with a deep southern accent.
- Who Would Be Stupid Enough?: Invoked by Chief Luggins to bait the Bad Guys into stealing the fake ruby. She is quoted in a newspaper story about the ruby that it is "safe from those STUPID, LAME and STUPID Bad Guys."
